Product Information

Product Description

This dimmer switch gives any Hardkorr 12V powered orange and white light the ability to produce three shades of light (cool white, warm white and orange). Meaning you can choose a colour setting to work with your environment. Lighten up your night activities with white lighting, switch to orange lighting to help reduce the appearance of insects, or choose the warm white setting for cooler, smoother warmth.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you put a 12V dimmer on LED lights?

Yes, you can add a dimmer to most 12V LED lights to adjust brightness and create a better atmosphere. Most camping LEDs are compatible with dimmers which rapidly pulse the power to reduce light output.

It is important to confirm your lights are dimmable before connecting a controller to prevent flickering or buzzing. Using a dimmer is a practical way to manage glare while cooking or relaxing at camp. This level of control helps make your setup feel more like a home away from home.

Find compatible fixtures in our LED Lights collection.

Do 12V dimmers actually save battery power at camp?

Yes, using a dimmer is one of the most effective ways to reduce the amperage draw on your system. Unlike old style resistors that wasted energy as heat, 12V dimmers reduce the total power used when you dial down the brightness.

Dimming your camp lights to 50 percent can significantly extend your battery runtime, which is vital during long off grid stays. This helps you maintain your charge levels for other gear like fridges and fans. It is a smart way to manage your energy without needing to add more panels.

Explore our 12V Deep Cycle Batteries to find the right capacity, or see our Battery Monitors for real time data.

Can 12V dimmers control both the brightness and the colour (orange/white) of my lights?

Specialized tri colour dimmers are designed to manage both brightness levels and colour temperature from a single unit. These controllers allow you to cycle through crisp white light for high visibility and switch to a bug deterring orange glow for the evening.

Many of these units are built into our complete lighting kits to simplify your canopy or camper setup. This dual control helps you tailor your campsite lighting to the environment and time of day. It provides a much more comfortable environment without the need for constant swatting.

Check our LED Camping Light Kits for pre bundled solutions.

What is the difference between a manual dial dimmer and a wireless remote dimmer?

A manual dial dimmer is a fixed unit that you mount directly to a control board or canopy wall for physical control. Wireless remote dimmers allow you to adjust your lights from up to 15 metres away, which is perfect for changing settings from your camp chair or rooftop tent.

While manual units are simple and always in the same spot, wireless models offer more convenience for larger campsites. Both styles use the same technology to manage your lighting efficiency and ambience. Choosing the style that fits your mounting habits is the best approach.
