About Battery Boxes & Trays
A battery is only as safe as whatever is holding it still.
That is easy to forget, because a battery does nothing visible. It sits there. But a lithium or AGM battery weighs as much as a small child, and on a corrugated track it is being thrown at its own mounting points a few hundred times a minute. Left loose, it walks. Terminals work against their cables. A case cracks against a bulkhead. A lug lifts off a post and the fridge stops. None of that happens on the driveway.
This collection is what stops it. A box encloses the battery, keeps dust and weather off the terminals, and gives you somewhere to bolt through that is not the battery itself. A tray holds a bare battery down with clamps and straps, for installs where a box is more than the space allows. Pre-wired boxes go further, with outlets, fuses and sometimes a charger already built into the lid, so the battery drops in and the setup is done.
Then the small parts. Covers for exposed Anderson plugs. Jumper leads sized to a box's own terminals. Straps and mounting trays for boxes that need to be held down themselves.
Pick the box or tray for the battery you actually have, not the one you plan to buy. Case dimensions vary more between chemistries and brands than people expect, and a tray sized for one will not clamp the next.
