About Inverter Cable & Accessories
An inverter is the heaviest load in the vehicle, and the cable feeding it is where most inverter installs go wrong.
Two thousand watts from a 12V battery is well over a hundred and fifty amps. That is not a current you run through the cable that came with the fridge. It wants heavy welding-grade cable, as short as the install allows, with lugs crimped by a tool built for the job and a fuse at the battery end rated to protect the cable rather than the inverter.
The cable kits here are sized to inverter ratings. Buy the kit for the inverter you have. Gauge, fuse rating and lug size depend on the inverter's own installation requirements, the system voltage and the run length, so a kit sold for one model is not automatically right for another of the same wattage.
Fuses and holders sit alongside the kits, for installs where the cable is already there and only the protection is missing. Formats here include ANL and ANS for the high-current runs an inverter needs, along with AMG and Mega fuses and kits for the accessory circuits that hang off the same bank. Check which format the holder in your install takes.
Keep the run short. Every metre between the battery and the inverter costs voltage at these currents, and an inverter that sees a sagging supply shuts down under load, which is usually right when the kettle is on.
