About Adaptors & Leads
Every adaptor in this collection exists because two things were made by two companies.
The panel has MC4 on its lead. The battery box has Anderson on its face. The fridge came with a cigarette plug. The charger wants a lug. None of them agree, and none of them are wrong. They are just the standards their own industries settled on, and the vehicle is where those industries meet.
A lead is where two standards shake hands. MC4 on one end and Anderson on the other, so a panel can feed a box. Anderson to lugs, so a lead can land on a busbar. Anderson to Anderson, longer than the one that came in the packet, for the run to the tray. A two-to-one branch that lets two panels share one lead down the roof. An inline fuse holder that turns a bare run into a protected one.
Then the bare cable, sold by the half metre, for the run that no pre-made lead fits. Solar cable for the roof, automotive cable for the small circuits, battery cable for the heavy ones, each in the gauges the job actually uses.
None of it is complicated. All of it is the part that stops a job at four on a Sunday afternoon when the two ends do not match. Buy the lead with the ends you actually have, at the length you actually need, rated above the current that will pass through it. And keep a spare of the one you use most, because the one that fails is the one there is no shop for.
