About KEY
KEY makes cable, which is the least interesting product in the store and the one most likely to be the reason something does not work.
A charger that never fills the battery, a fridge that cuts out with a bank that is nowhere near flat, a light that dims when the pump runs. All three look like a fault in the appliance and all three are usually the cable. Voltage lost across a run that was a size too thin does not announce itself. It just shows up as a system that underperforms in ways nobody can explain.
The range covers what a 12V install actually uses, sold by the half metre so the run is the length it needs to be. Battery cable in the heavy gauges for chargers, inverters and battery links, in red and black so the polarity is obvious at both ends in two years. Twin core in the same gauges where positive and negative travel together. Automotive cable in the light gauges for lights, sockets and small circuits.
Every size lists its current rating, which is the number the choice is made from, alongside the length of the run. And the run is there and back, which is the detail that catches most people out.
Buy one size up if the run is long or the number is borderline. The extra costs very little and it is the only part of the install that cannot be upgraded later without pulling everything apart.
