Dometic Mounting Frame to suit NRX115 (Black)

Metal mounting brackets provide a safer and more stable connection because they create a solid mechanical link between the fridge and the vehicle. Unlike tie down straps that can stretch or vibrate loose over corrugated outback tracks, a metal bracket physically locks the unit to the base or fridge slide.

Using brackets prevents the fridge from shifting during a sudden stop or an impact, which is a vital safety consideration for heavy accessories. While straps are a practical temporary solution, a dedicated bracket system is the best choice for long term touring rigs. Providing this solid fix also helps reduce noise and prevents wear on the fridge housing.

Most chest style fridge brackets are brand specific because they are designed to interface with the unique feet or handles of a particular model. For example, a bracket for a Bushman fridge uses a different locking mechanism than one for a Dometic unit. This specific fit makes certain the fridge stays locked in place without any play.

Upright fridges often use more universal mounting frames or feet that bolt through a canopy floor. It is always a smart move to verify the mounting dimensions before starting your fit out to ensure a clean and secure installation. This helps you build a professional setup that handles the shakes and rattles of off road travel.

Mount an upright fridge by bolting the internal feet directly to the canopy floor or by using a specialized surround frame. Because these units sit vertically, they require a firm base to prevent the cabinet from swaying while the vehicle is in motion. Many travelers choose to build a custom housing that provides extra support and protection for the fridge.

Leaving a clear path for airflow is the most important part of an upright installation. The compressor needs room to breathe to maintain cooling efficiency during hot Australian arvos. Explore our Ventilation & Cooling collection to find vents and fans that help manage the heat inside your canopy.

Most mounting kits include the bolts and clips needed to fix the bracket to the fridge itself. However, the hardware required to bolt the bracket to your vehicle floor, drawer system, or fridge slide is often sold separately. This allows you to choose the correct fasteners for your specific mounting surface, such as timber, steel, or aluminium.

It is a good habit to use high tensile bolts and large washers to distribute the weight of a full fridge across a larger surface area. This prevents the mounting points from fatiguing or tearing during heavy off road use. Verifying your hardware requirements before you begin the install helps make the process much smoother and results in a more secure setup.
