FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How many mounting brackets do I need for a 270 degree awning?

Most standard 270 degree awnings require at least three heavy duty brackets to distribute weight and wind load across your roof rack. Using only two points often leads to excessive flexing of the awning frame, which can cause brackets to bend or fail during off road travel.

Adding a third bracket provides a more stable foundation for the massive surface area of a wrap around setup. This is a practical move for travelers tackling corrugated tracks or exposed coastal campsites where wind pressure is high. Providing extra support points helps protect your vehicle roof and keeps your shelter locked down.

Check out our range of Awnings to find a match for your rig, or see our Awning Accessories for tie downs and straps.

Are height adjustable awning mounting brackets worth it?

Height adjustable brackets are worth the investment for rigs with tall rear tailgates or where roof rack clearance is limited. These brackets allow you to raise the awning when you arrive at camp, preventing the frame from striking doors or interfering with your rooftop tent setup.

Providing this flexibility helps you achieve a better angle for rain runoff and allows you to level the shade on uneven ground. It is a practical choice for custom canopy builds or wagons where a fixed height might be too low for comfortable head room. Using adjustable hardware provides more confidence that your shelter will fit your vehicle perfectly.
