Bushman 85L Aluminium Fridge Box

Aluminium fridge boxes protect your cooling unit from shifting gear and provide a solid barrier against scratches or dents while touring. They also offer an extra layer of thermal protection which helps the fridge maintain internal temperatures more effectively during hot Australian afternoons. This reduction in heat soak means your compressor cycles less often and consumes less energy from your battery bank.

Using a box allows you to stack gear around your fridge without blocking the vents or damaging the cabinet. This is a practical move for maximizing storage space in a busy canopy or trailer. Providing this protection helps your unit last through years of off road travel. Explore our Portable Fridge Freezers to find a unit that fits your setup.

Most aluminium fridge boxes are sized to match standard 35L to 60L portable units. You should always check the external dimensions of your specific fridge, including handles and power leads, to confirm a secure fit within the enclosure. A snug fit prevents the fridge from vibrating against the walls on corrugated outback tracks.

These boxes are often designed with a universal footprint that accepts various brands. If you are building a custom canopy fit out, verify the lid clearance and the position of your fridge slide to make certain everything operates smoothly. This careful planning results in a professional and functional storage system. Find compatible models in our Portable Fridge Freezers collection.

Yes, quality aluminium boxes feature integrated vents or laser cut patterns that align with the fridge intake and exhaust points. Proper airflow is vital for removing heat from the compressor and preventing system shutdown during heavy use. Using a box actually protects this airflow by stopping other gear from being packed too tightly against the fridge vents.

Maintaining a clear path for air helps the fridge run less often and saves capacity in your house batteries. This is particularly important for long term off grid stays where power management is a priority. Track your system performance with our Battery Monitors or manage your solar input with our Solar Controllers.

Most aluminium fridge boxes are available in a textured powder coated black or a natural silver finish. These neutral options are designed to match common 4WD canopy and tray interiors for a professional and tidy look. The powder coating adds an extra layer of protection against corrosion and red dust while you are traveling.

Selecting the color that best fits the aesthetic of your rig helps create an integrated storage setup. Aluminium is a durable choice for these enclosures because it is lightweight and handles the harsh Australian sun without fading or becoming brittle. This makes it a practical solution for securing your cooling gear during long remote missions.
