About Outback Tourer
Outback Tourer is what happens when a rooftop tent is designed around the ladder as much as the mattress.
That sounds like a small thing. It is not. A rooftop tent gets climbed into in the dark, in the rain, half asleep, by someone who has had a long day, and the parts of the design that decide whether it is pleasant are the ones nobody looks at in a showroom. How steeply the ladder sits. How much it flexes. Where the handhold is. Whether the entry is at the end or the side.
The range covers both shell types. Hard shell tents that open on gas struts in seconds and hold their shape in wind, in the common widths and in versions with more headroom. Fold-out tents that extend past the roofline for more floor area, at the cost of a longer setup. Lighter-shell versions cut weight for the same footprint, which matters when the roof rating is tight.
Awnings sit alongside them, in the formats that suit a vehicle already carrying a tent, along with the brackets that mount an awning to the tent base when the rack has nothing left.
Two numbers decide the choice before anything else. The dynamic roof rating of the vehicle, which is what the rack can carry while moving. And the number of people who will be sleeping up there, because a tent sized for two is a tent that two people fit in and no more.
