About Campervan
A campervan has the roof of a small house and the floor of a large cupboard.
That is the shape of every decision in a van build. The roof carries solar, and there is enough of it to run a serious array. The floor and walls carry everything else, and there is not enough of either. So the power system goes flat, the battery goes slim or under a seat, the fridge goes in a drawer or an upright the width of a cabinet, and every accessory that can be flush mounted is.
Power comes from three places on a van and all three matter. The roof, because it is the biggest flat surface the vehicle has. The alternator, because a van drives every few days and a DC to DC charger turns that into a full battery. And mains, because a van sees powered sites and driveways more than a 4WD does. The system that suits a van takes all three and puts them into one bank at the right profile.
Ventilation is the other thing a van cannot skip. A sealed metal box in the sun needs a roof vent, a fan, or both, and the one with a rain sensor is the one you can leave open overnight.
The rest follows the space. Lights that mount flush. Sockets in panels by the bed and the door. A monitor on the wall rather than in a locker. Everything chosen for a vehicle where a centimetre of depth is a centimetre you do not have somewhere else.
